A Memorial Service is usually to remember the Life of a certain special person. Being that the case, More the reason to express hope not only by remembering the life of the person that was but the one that can be the Bible verse of Job ch.14 verse 7 indicates that if there is hope for a tree, More the reason to have hope for a person who God knows is of much more importance.  So the resurrection and seeing our loved ones once more becomes even more clear.  Additionally verse   14 where Job asks the question and then answers it himself gives us more insight in regards to everlasting life.

Saundra Bridges,  The 23rd Psalm is read at a lot of memorial services.  It is one of my favorites.

May the soul that died rest in peace. I can't seem to figure which chapter in psalms that says "sorrowful in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His faithful". I think that verse is very comforting, reminding you that God knows how hurting it is for you to lose the one you love, other than that Ecclesiastes 3 vs1-14 or the end. Try it.
