Xanax and Alcohol

i was just reading some of the answers here about the xanax and someone mentioned attempting to stop xanax after taking it regularily. first. never take xanax at the same time every day... mix it up..i have been taught that this may help with the addictive nature of the drug and our habits 2. never EVER attempt to stop taking xanax if you have taken it over periods of time especially if you were on the higher dosages (this can cause death!) 3. seek medical help if you desire to get off xanax, it requires observation and tapering for those who have been on it a long time. 4. if there are other options available to you other than xanax (buspar works well for some with anxiety, without the addictive quality) then try that first. some really need xanax to function. there is no shame in that, its better to carefully monitor your xanax than to be a non-productive miserable individual..just treat yourself and xanax with the respect it deserves. 5. those with addictive tendencies or possibly allergies may need to monitor xanax, yes, it can put some people into a serious "dream" state; it maybe related to higher dosages, so if you really need the medication then adjust the dosage (with supervision of course) until you find the smallest amount you have to have to control the symptoms. remember with xanax the 'idea' is not to numb out completely (which is why i think some people like xanax so much, it does have that capacity), but to "manage" the intense feeling of anxiety...so allow yourself a bit of wiggle room ok.. a little anxiety isnt gonna kill you and people deal with such every day and survive/find a way to  work through it. dont use xanax to escape from your feelings or things you are supposed to in life find solutions to other than popping a mind altering drug! dont think i am being harsh either, i am a nurse for 25 years, and i use xanax, so this is not only some education but experience talking here!

You should not take Xanax before, during or immediately after consuming alcohol. IN addition to the medical hazards listed below you could also find yourself passing out while driving, sleeping excessively and a constant state of sleepiness.

No it is a bad idea.I do it not in excess but i feel part of the world with my glass or two of wine......I know it is wrong...............So do not start........It is a habit..The xanax you may need ..........It has been ok so far but i know it is not a good idea................But my way has never worked for me.............Stick to what your dr says ...My dr would kill me if he knew i had a glass of wine or two.........But do not start if you can stop...................

I am a 21  year old girl and drink a bottle if not more and a wole packet of xanx n im fine.

Xanax only works for a short amout of time

It'sjnot weight or antying to do with that...

Im 5 foot ten (im european so we use metic system) ajnd ohnly weght 55 kilos...

Xanax and alcohol almost ruined my life.  The package said not to drink on it but don't all meds?  I hate flying so had taken xanax and a few drinks and went balistic at the security guy when going through an airport.  We ended up kicked out of the airport and I didn't understand what was wrong with me.  I thought I was going insane.  Then I did both again months later at a very stressfull wedding and blacked out.  According to my husband I was hanging all over most of the guys there and kissing them right in front of him and his kids.  No one believes that I don't remember any of this and hold me responsible.  I have never acted this bad when just drinking alcohol so I think it was the combination.  It is a relief to know other people have experienced things like this because I thought I was insane.  I have quit both drugs now.

do people buy zanax out on the steets? i aking cause i had a bottle aken from me and really could not undwerstand wy someone would take them.  i use mine only on occassions when my chronic pain level gets to high and i cant take the pain then my body gets all wigged out like my muscles seem like the twitch and ilike i have an extra body that wants out... no i am not crazy only feel crazy.

It is really bad to mix the two together my exhusband did a now he is dead.

  I used to take Xanax for anxiety & would also drink. I had 2 bad car accident because I blacked out. Thank God (literally) that I never hurt or killed anyone. I just got out of jail after serving 5 mths for DUI after the 2nd accident.  I'm now off Xanax & no longer drink & feel better than I did in years. I still have some anxiety, but I can deal with it, especially with God's help & strength.
