The detectives broke into our house and took a few things,the search warrant was for a house 5 miles away.Can they legally use it in court

You need to consult a lawyer.  They violated the law.

Be honest and be true to yourself.

Why would the police want to keep whatever they took from your house if your house was not the correct one? Sounds illegal to me. I would definitely contact an attorney and ask them.

I would say no. According to the way I understand it is no warrant  no evidence.  If it was the wrong house then they got it illegal.  But don't take my word for it, see a lawyer.
