The Renaissance (Rebirth) was a time of renewal of rational thought, a return to fundamental faith, renewal of the arts, rebirth of mathematics and science, and much more.  Indeed, the Renaissance was the rebirth of the spirit of exploration.  So went the last age: Capricorn the Sea Goat (the explorer) which began with the Renaissance and ended with manned landings on the moon.  So closed the age of exploration.  We are now in the age of Aquarius: the coldest of the ages, marked by deceit, want, disharmony, and war.

Ages do not begin and end suddenly.  Most credit the beginning of the Renaissance about 1490, with Ferdinand and Isabella commissioning Coloumbus to discover a trade route to India.  In the process, Columbus arrived on the Americas, opening a new chapter for America and Europe.  Our current age began with the Bolshevik Revolution, gas warfare, and wholesale atrocities in Russia.

As the Renaissance dawned, gone was Medeival argument-by-authority of atheist kings and now, people had the right to probe the mysteries of Theism which gave properly considered religion restored full credibility.  That didn't set will with Muslims because Islam failed all the tests of rational inquiry, but Christianity and Judaism passed with flying colors.

Scholarly debate by means of reason became the new guiding force that dictated the course of the Church and Synagogue.  With the return of reason we saw the end of such as the Atheist Persecutions of Benable and Sarone, which caused the Spanish Inquisition.  With atheism securely in its leaky coffin, there was no longer any cause to conduct the Inquisition.

With freedom of thought restored, faith, art, and science became a unified force for good.  Call it good or ill, the Renaissance made quite a difference.

We learn from history that we learn nothing from history: those who refuse to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
