The most obvious place to obtain information is from your local Social Security District Office or the Social Security Administration's 1-800 number (1-800-772-1213). Remember, however, that the information that you receive from these sources is only as good as the person whom you happen to speak to. Some employees are well trained and are a valuable source of information and some are less reliable. It may be difficult to tell whether you can rely on the information that you receive when you contact Social Security. Do not be afraid to ask to speak to a supervisor or manager. Good Luck!

The policies about returning to work are different in each district. If you received for instant disability benefits you can still receive them for up to a year and if you decide to leave within 3 years you can receive the benefits without  re-filing.  In general the social security  policies allow you to work  and if you cannot find a job you can receive the benefits later. Like i mentioned before there are different rules so you should check  them  also regarding  the Medicare.

We have done it, but you do have to apply again and be qualified again.   Your ability to work will be questioned and it might be a long process to re-qualify.  My husband has done this before, so it can be done.

Frown Sorry to say but, no, I don't think so.  You can work part-time and remain on SSI but if you return to work full-time, the govt. says you don't need SSI because you are able to work.  That's SSI though.  Check with your local SS Dept.  Good Luck!

Social Security Retirement, SSI, and SSA are differing Social Security programs.  Each disability case is different but they are all covered by the Social Security Act.

Most of the time, you have a three-year moratorium on your SSI and SSA benefits: you can work up to three years and still draw benefits, but as before, the Administrative Law Judge is the final binding authority.  His decree sets your program in stone.
