Door seam to be lock but you just push it and it opens.

the latch isn't lining up right and the bolt isn't going into the hole, just up to the striker plate.  you have to find out where the plate (on the doorjamb by the knob, usually, unless you have double doors) should be, mortise out the hole and remount the plate
