If you have the old date/time in cell A1 and new in A2 put =(A2-A1)*24*60, change format to General and you'll get the total minutes. Take the *60 off to get hours or add *60 to get seconds.

Excel - Conditional Formatting Bug

Check to make sure the the row number in the formula matches up with the row number the formatting is on. You might have COUNTIF(A:A,A2)>1 on row 3 so the formatting is dependant on what is in a2 rather than a3.
