Nope, it's slow for me today as well. I suspect it's the provider in my area; sometimes it seems to be affected by the weather and we're having quite a bit of breeze today. It's a PITA, but it will pass... hopefully soon!

My aol mail has become extremely slow to load and respond

One thing that may help is to sign off AOL, then use Mail, Mail Settings, Manage Saved Mail, Compact. Another thing you can do is to delete some of the mail; the more mail you have, the longer it takes to load. You don't need to keep the daily joke, or the invitation to a time-share presentation.
