When on mail I get this sound like a door closing every 4-5 minutes is there someway to get rid of this?

If you only want to eliminate a secondary screen name, you can do that at keyword NAMES. If you want to close an AOL account, you can go to menu Help, Billing (older versions) or Help, Manage My Account (9.6 and later). Or you can use keyword CANCEL, or go to cancel.aol.com . Doors creaking open and slamming shut are AOL buddy sounds. You can turn them off in AOL using Settings, Sounds, IM. If you aren't using AOL, maybe the sounds are from AIM?

I don't think there is any way to turn off the "you've got mail" alert. I have to mute the sound on my computer before checking mail. It's the fizz in their cola and they just don't want to give you the option to take it out.

Door noises are AOL buddy sounds. There are lots of other sounds that can be picked, including bird sounds. You can turn off buddy sounds at Settings, Sounds, IM.
