Macaroni and cheese and hamburgers are my comfort foods. I used to like fried bologna sandwiches, from my childhood. But back in those days bologna didn't come in plastic packages and it was reasonably healthy.
My comfort foods are those that take me back to my family’s origins… healthy fruits, vegetables and berries. Those I enjoy most are Avocados, Cabbage, Berries, Carrots, Spinach and Tomatoes. These natural foods increase my energy level, boost my immune system as well help me to live a healthy life. As avocados have no cholesterol, berries of different kinds such as blueberry, raspberry and acai berry provides free radical scavenging antioxidants, cabbages contain cancer fighting ingredients, I know that I’m also helping myself. My family taught me that comfort food can be healthy food, too.
Ice cream makes me feel good. Temporarily. I don't like it so much when it causes me to gain weight.
If it's for me, I tend to make soups and chili.
If it's my husband, I make him chocolate chip cookies or fudge cake.
If it's my son, I make his favorite, honey glazed ham with grilled pineapples, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and homemade bread.
If it's my daughter~n~law, chicken and dumplings are always her choice.
And for the grand babies, any combination or all of the above works. ; )
Brazil nuts for me as they contain selenium which enhances your mood.

Comfort food to me is where I don't have to do no cooking....Take out of course or a meal on the town.....That is comfort.....money is the problem, and usually I do alot of dishwashing at the places I eat at..........
