Although your idea is very pretty and I can actually vision what you are looking for. I don't believe it is a good idea to put a fish because goldfishes too need maintenance even in a bowl.

I have been to a wedding where they gave the goldfish and the bowl out after the wedding was done and the goldfish died 10 minutes later. I'm not sure if it was the water, the car ride back home, or even stress.

What I would do is have a cylinder glass bowl fill that with water have vines in the centerpiece along with some golden vines in them. I've seen it a couple of times and it is absolutely lovely.
