Discuss Susan's answer to: Wedding Photography?

I was wondering, why do wedding photographers charge so much? Do they think that people by default overpay everything for their wedding so they suppose that photos need to be overpaid too?

I think one reason the cost seems so high is that photographers do a ton of work after the wedding too. I am not a photographer but I have several friends who are and I know it takes hours to sort through and edit all the photos.
