A browser a software program that allows the user to find and read encoded documents in a form suitable for display. The obvious example is a web browser, which allows people to access and read web pages over the Internet. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Opera are, in order of descending popularity, some of the web-browsers available for personal computers users.

Browser, from the verb to browse which means to pore over (like reading) pages. The internet as we know it made possible through the use of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) which is a code that allows to have linked text that can take the reader to another page. An HTML document would be a mixture of code and readable text. The HTML code allows for text formatting and linking property.  A browser is an application that interprets the code and displays only the text part of the document making it readable. The first browser was Netscape Navigator, which soon was displaced by the now ubiquitous Internet Explorer. Other popular browsers are Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Opera.
