I got a new leather coat and the salesman told me to avoid rain with it .Is it really bad to wear leather when it rains? Does rain damage leather?
That's odd, Fine leather should be almost waterproof. How should you wash it then?
I read that water has a tendency to dry leather’s natural “oils”. I know you are not allowed to soak it , so this means no washing. I am looking for another solution.
I have been caught in the rain several times with no detrimental effect to the leather jacket I was wearing. When I got home I dried it with a towel and let it air dry for a day or two.
well it depends on the leather, and how it was made... some leather jackets are somewhat waterproof and can't be easily damage form getting wet but some are in the opposite, getting soaked or wet in the water makes it rougher and gets damaged...
Wear it - modern leather coats remain their sizes even when they are wet.
