Why do dolphins live in water?

If they were on land something would eat them.  In the water they can swim away.  It is also easier for them to find food in the water.  The closest land mammals would be something like seals and walruses, and they have a very hard time protecting themselves from land predators.  The lack of legs and claws is a great disadvantage for the dolphins on land.

Because that is their natural habitat.

These mammals are used for shows and even kept in public aquariums as an attraction. There are even places where you can go and swim with dolphins.
