It hasn't 'gotten', it has been for several years. I see this as a function of the media pushing for advertising, then publicizing every instance of misbehavior. Feeding the frenzy, as it were.

GIVE a man a fish and you feed him for a day. TEACH a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. SADLY, most fishermen are afraid to touch the worm.

Many People have gotten so materialistic and out of control- thinking everything is about "ME"- THE SHAME- Maybe the doors could have been open earlier. But the people chose to do what they did! Retail is about sales and the world knows it- I do not shop Black Friday but I do work it- The people ruin it for others- Retail gives the people what they ask for- It is all about greed- not need!
