I think that the movie you are talking about is called, Past the Bleachers.
It was a TV movie, and is about a man who a man who is haunted by the death of his son. When he agrees to coach a youth baseball team with the help of a lonely widower, he is drawn to the team's star player, a boy who is mute, and mysterious, yet reminds him of his son. As he searches for the boy's true identity, he slowly comes out of his grief and comes to terms with his son's death.a man haunted by the death of his son.
