I am a professional vocalist using pre-recorded music tracks for my work. I would like to start using a laptop computer to store my tracks on. What is the best laptop for this purpose?
If the purpose is just storage, you shouldn't bother to buy a powerful computer. Focus on hard drive volume. Here's my recommendation for a good core on just a bit more than the usual office computer. CPU - Intel Core 2 duo E6xxx series. Motherboard - Intel/Gigabyte. 2Gb 800Mhz of RAM. Personally, I would say ergonomics are a very important factor as well when choosing a laptop. Good, reliable notebook vendors include Lenovo (Thinkpad series is very good with great ergonomics) HP and dell.
If you're looking only for storing the tracks, you need only a large hard drive.
If you want also to play it from the laptop you'll need to find a laptop which has a good sound card and also has various outputs for sound.
Start looking for Fujitsu/simens or HP brands, I think they have such things. Also could be a laptop from Alienware they specialize in the area
I think you need lots of storage space, do I guess a large hard disk is in order, and some music editing software...
But I'm no computers pro, so I can't really tell you anything else. Can you specify budget and other needs for your lap top?
