I am a Uk resident and pro Israeli in my views. I would like to visit israel next fall but have experienced such high hotel prices. any ideas for those on a budget.
I suggest you stay in Bed and Breakfasts (they are called Zimmer in Hebrew), or at a kibbutz. For starters, here are two web sites.
Once you start to organize your trip, I will be more then happy to help you out.
Hi David,1. Take an orgenizes tour at the bottom line it's best value for money way to visi and travel in Israel (they take all the troubles to get the best prices). 2. Stay out of the main cities. 3. Rooms at the Kibbutzs are relatively cheap. 4. Guest houses are cheaper than hotels. Best regards,
first of all, Israel is great and I hope you enjoy your tour.
As for a place to sleep withing budget, I have two reccomendations:
1. Israel Youth Hostel Association might have cheaper room at that time. try them at http://www.iyha.org.il/
2. For an authentic experience, you can try couchsurfing. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a great way to see Israel and feel more local . you can find it at http://www.couchsurfing.org
Try and check with Nature Society (Hevra Le-haganat Ha-teva) tel. +972 -3-6388688 Maybe they can help.
I hope you're still planning your trip. I'm surprised no one has suggested the religious guesthouses for pilgrims. They're pretty cool places to stay in and are much cheaper than hotels. (You don't have to take a religious test to stay there!) Plus, they tend to be located very close to many of the sights in Israel you'll want to see. The youth hostels are also good choices. The ones I've stayed in in Israel have always been clean, well-appointed and friendly. You might find the Where to Stay section of the Jerusalem Insider's Guide helpful. They review hotels (from cheap to luxurious), hostels and pilgrim guesthouses in Jerusalem.
