Why do virtual worlds attract us more than the real world?

Why do virtual worlds attract us more than the real world? When it doesn't really mean anything to accomplish something in a game when your real life is lacking, why do we still get excited?

In my opinion, it's because we can be different persons online and it's easier to get a sense of accomplishment in online games. Plus, some like the people who they can meet there and others just like video gaming.
