Should vigilante justice be legal

Should it be legal to physically assault or even kill a person who molested, beat, raped, abused, killed or tried to kill you/someone you care about? What if the person who hurt you or your loved one was never brought to justice or were wrongly acquitted?

Well, Let me ask you.
If you were accused of a particularly hyenas crime. Would you rather take your chances with a linch mob or vigilante, or the duly appointed legal system?
It's one thing to defend yourself and others during the occurrence of actual victimization.
But what if you were not caught in the act? What if people only believed you guilty? And then decided on their own to eliminate you on societies behalf?

Foolproof you say? Challenge excepted.
