Discuss BG43214's answer to: The USA is NOT "Christian" and never was

"the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion" Thomas Jefferson, article 11 Treaty of Tripoli.

you are SOOOOOO right....our forefathers believed in GOD, but not the fact that we were a 'Christian' nation...... as for Rev. Cooper, he's WAY off track in his thinking.......we are a nation under a CONSTITUTION, not God; Iran is a nation under God......enough said!!

Why this type of thinking is so prevalent is beyond me.....I've always thought that religion belongs in three places; your place of worship, your home, and your heart......it DOES NOT belong at a high school graduation, in Congress, or MOST OF ALL at a Presidential Prayer Breakfast!!! which is the worst of all........the Pres. is a civil servant; WE pay HIS salary....no president has any right to have a 'prayer breakfast'.......once again, and this is what these people like Cooper have wrong, is that with separation of church & state.....(by the way, why isn't it .....'separation of state and church'....why should 'church' be first?!?!  But I digress..lol...anyway, you are not putting to the forefront ANY denomination, and thus this strengthens BOTH the churches and the state.......

But I fear that those of us who feel this way are the voices crying in the wilderness!!!!!    and how!!!!!!!!!

Please consider joining and contributing to Americans United for the Separation of Church and State....at least go to their website and see what they are all about......funny thing is, the head of it, Barry Lynn, is a Reverend!  anyway, I will stop ranting for now!!!!!!
