"the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion" Thomas Jefferson, article 11 Treaty of Tripoli.
Citoyen -- Let's keep in mind that America was being attacked by the Muslim nations when John Adams was second president to the USA. Christians were killed and badly mistreated unless they became Muslim. The Muslim Arabs came from Tripoli, thus,The Marines Song, -- "from the shores of Montzeuma to the Shores of Tripoli", a city in Libya. The song relates to that time period. Most Americans are not aware that the war with Muslims Nations started a long time ago.
The treaty was written in Arabic and wrongly translated into English. The original in Arabic plainly states (as far as religion is concerned) that the treaty was not a religious treaty but rather a political treaty, hence from there we get the translation of "not a Christian nation".
The original treaty is still in existence but do not know where or if opened to the public. Maybe someone else will know.
Do you think telling that easily refuted lie is going to advance your theocratic cause?
We have the treaty and it says you lie!
John McCann -- You need to study history.
I have, you still lie.
John McCann -- I know that you are a smart man. I though you would come up with a better answer than "you lie". So if that is what you want to think, that's fine with me.
As far as advancing my theocratic cause, I don't have one. As I stated before, this is not a theocratic country. It's law were based on the Bible but no one is forcing anyone to believe in God. That can only come from the heart.
" It's law were based on the Bible "
No they weren't!! Our laws are based on Roman and Greek law with English common law thrown in. The enlightenment and the Age Of Reason informed the law of the land, the Constitution, which precludes barbaric biblical law.
Do you get it now wackaloon? Remember, theocrat, to think as you do, in a theocratic manner, borders on treason.
John -- Like it or not, the people involved in writing the Constitution quoted the Bible, not Roman or Greek laws. And, I just don't understand why you are calling me names.
AolAnswers is for everyone to voice their opinions. I do not have to agree with you nor do you have to agree with me. But we can do that without name calling. Don't you think?
John McCann -- Treason? That is a hard word. I really must get you angry. Proverbs 29:11 -- A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.
