Underrated Muscle Cars

I've always been partial to the Oldsmobile 442 myself. It pretty much kicked ass on most muscle cars of its time.

There were plenty of 'normal' cars that would hold their own against some of the flashy muscle cars.  Chevy Impalas with the 396 or 427 option, Ford Torinos and Fairlanes with 351's or 390's, Pontiacs and Chryslers with major muscle under the hood AND 4 doors... much to the delight of teenage boys taking the family car out on a Saturday night.

Many (not all) cool cars have been put to shame by a big heavy 4 door Olds or Buick.

While I was driving my 58 Chevy, my parents had a Buick Electra with an experimental 525 CI motor. They only put the motor in a few cars. How my parents got one I don't know. But I used to surprise a lot of people who drove hot cars racing them with that big ole Buick.

I might just mention in passing, my 58 Chevy had a 429 supercharged Hemi under the hood and could pop the front wheels off the ground. My best friend had a Volkswagon beetle, with a 409 in the back seat. He had to put wheelie bars in the rear to keep the front wheels ON the ground.

I alway liked the 67 Ford, Fairlane 500 GT! You don't see many of them running around the country.

Any of you guys remember the American Motors Javelin?  I had a '68 with a 390 cube engine that was pretty fast.  They looked like this.  Mine was black with a gold racing stripe.
