First and most important one is to have the will to continue! Although life itself is a kind of a continuing education sometimes you need to keep on learning and develop your knowledge in one or several fields. I got several private courses granted with diploma and now I see the benefits of them. Here in Europe there is this kind of Life long learning program of the EU http://ec.europa.eu/education/llp/official-documents-on-the-llp_en.htm or my friends in Denmark have a trade union that offers courses and another opportunities in the field of continuing education. It is called HK and this one helps both in finding an apprenticeship program or a job. So check it.
