Twitter newbie

how to get followers on twitter none of my friends are on. Also can anyone at all see my tweets if I have no followers? Is there a way to request people to follow you? If I reply to tweets can the person I'm replying to see it? Help!

Hey Ginger, your tweets show up in a public timeline, so yes people can see them through searches and other means if they are not following you.  The way you get followers is by being an active participant.  Teet good interesting content with keywords realtive to your interests and people will find you.  The best way to get followers is to start following others.  I blog a lot about twitter and am creating a twitter tutorial series.

Thanks Jay I'll look up your tutorial but another question, if I reply to someone else's tweets, does that person actually see it if they don't follow me? Politics are my passion so I'd like to be able to tweet back and forth with Media types and Pundits like Rachal Maddow ect.they would never follow me would they?

Yes you can @reply to non-followers. Your @replies are visible on the public timeline, so they are not private.  Private messages can be sent with a direct message.  Hope this answers your question.

Thanks Jay I think I'm getting the hang of it. I never get feed back from people that dont follow me so I wasnt sure they could see it.

Heres a simple little trick for you that works!

Before following anyone make sure you have posted an interesting or informative tweet, not something selling something.

If it is interesting enough 9 times out of 10 they will follow back

first you profile should be good and in your starting your post must be informative and your activity should be daily then follow the people and i am sure you can get the followers

You sound desperate for attention. What difference does it make in your life if you don't have followers? Wouldn't you be okay one way or the other, or has twitter become so important that you can't exist without it? Why? What exactly is the point of twitter anyway? "Hey follwers. I'm in a public restroom and I use 4 sheets of T.P. for my bunghole."

I may not be Mr. Know It All, but I knew him well and he taught me much.
