Discuss loudawg's answer to: Turn off "You've got mail!" announcement?

How do I turn off the "You've got mail!" announcement when I open my mail? I don't want to get busted at work every time I check my personal mail and it's hard to remember to turn my speakers down ...

Lisa,

Go to Settings > General > New Mail.

Uncheck the box that says "Play a sound when new mail arrive".

Click Save.

Refresh the page and you'll discover that both new mail sounds (when you sign in, and the one you hear when you get new mail while you  have your mail open).

Well, when I go to Settings, there is no "General."  When I go to Mail Settings, clicking the announcement box doesn't work -- I want to turn the announcement ON, and I can't seem to do so.  :(
