Discuss Yechielshlipshon's answer to: What is the truth about Jewish beliefs of His Way?

The misuse of Hebrew Scriptures

to "prove" Christian claims, and the Jewish response

#3 GENESIS 3:22

And the Etrnl Gd said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the Etrnl Gd sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Just as we saw in Genesis 1:26, Christians see the use of a plural in relation to Gd, and assume that it means the trinity.

There is nothing in verse 22 that indicates that Gd was speaking to Himself or to a part of any trinity. There are other explanations of this verse that do not agree with the Christians' interpretation that Gd was speaking to one or both of the other two in the trinity. For example, Gd could have been using what is called the 'pluralis majestatis,' the 'majestic plural,' or the 'royal we.' Many are familiar with the statement made by Queen Victoria in the early 1900's, 'We are not amused,' referring to herself. Again, even if this were a plural reference to Gd, it doesn't have to mean three, it could mean three thousand. If the Hindus were to interpret these verses as referring to the multiplicity of Hindu gods, how could Christians claim that the Hindu interpretation was any less valid than their Christian interpretation?

There is a more obvious meaning to be found in the entire passage and in the simple meaning of the verses. Gd is speaking to someone who, like Gd, knows the difference between Good and Evil, and who, like Gd, is immortal. Just a few verses before Genesis 3:22, Gd had already created the angels, the hosts of heaven.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. [Genesis 2:1]

From the Jewish perspective, in Genesis 3:22, Gd was speaking to the Heavenly Hosts, the angels. The angels, like Gd, are immortal, and, like Gd, they know the difference between Good and Evil. This is what the verses here are saying. Man, both Adam and Eve, have eaten of the fruit of The Tree Of The Knowledge Of The Difference Between Good And Evil, and therefore know the difference between Good and Evil. However, unlike Gd and the angels, Adam and Eve remain mortal. If they were to then eat from the Tree Of Life, they would become immortal, and so Gd separates them from the Tree Of Life by kicking them out of the Garden Of Eden, and then keeps them away from the Tree Of Life by placing Cherubims with flaming swords to guard the way to the Tree Of Life. This is exactly what the verses state:

...lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the Etrnl Gd sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Again, just because there is some use of a plural word in relation to Gd, it does not necessarily indicate a trinity, and it can be interpreted in various ways other than meaning a trinity. It could as easy be thirty, or three hundred.

What is the truth about Jewish beliefs of His Way?

Dear AC;

Oops! You goof again!

See Jesus Christ the word of God for the truth about Jewish beliefs.

Dear AC;

Let us see, now. In the Tanach, we have G-d saying that His anointed One shall rebuild the Temple, regather the Jewish people, stop wars, and parents and children shall have respect for each other.

Now, according to the truth about Jewish beliefs, we have what He said. Does your Gospel affirm this?

1. Rebuild the Temple? The temple was standing in 35 AD, destroyed in 70 AD. WRONG!

2. Regather the Jewish people? By 185 AD, whole nation destroyed, and we were scattered to the four winds. WRONG!

3. He will stop all wars. Now, let us see; there was the destruction of Jesus followers by the Church, the Bosnian Genocide in the Seventeenth century, the Thirty Wars War and the Hundred Years War, and various other crusades, Inquisitions and other conflicts of conquest, rebellion and more. WRONG!

4. Parents and children shall have respect for each other. Have you looked at a police blotter, lately? WRONG!

Well, 4 out of 4, I would say you are batting 100%. Not bad,

Now, if you want to know the truth, read what G-d said in His words, not the heresy of others.

Deleted my answer, Julius, Can't handle the truth can you, Julius. You can dish it out but can't take it, can you, Julius. Here see if you can delete this one also, Julius.

I have a word for you Julius,  go away, your tactics no longer work.  Delete all you want. Call us what you will, your slanders and false witnesses and false accusations have no power over those who know the truth.  And the truth is not AntiSemitic.  Like it or lump it, the truth is self evident.

And while the Roman General Titus did sack and destroy Jerusalem in A.D. 70, it was in no means the destruction spoken of by Jesus Christ.  The destruction Jesus was speaking of has not yet happened.  If you read the Scriptures carefully you observe that the destruction will be so great that not even one stone shall be left standing upon another.  This has not yet happened, for I'm sure you have heard of the "Wailing Wall" (the western wall of the Temple remains in Israel) where the Jews pray.

        You will even notice in the first Scripture below that Jesus and the Disciples are speaking of the end times (our times) in relation to the destruction:

    Matt 24:1-4
    1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
    2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
    3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
    4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (KJV)

    Luke 19:41-45
    41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city [Jerusalem], and wept over it,
    42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
    43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
    44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
    45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought

        Satan is allowed by God, and given supernatural powers from God to deceive the world. God allows satan to do this to fulfill the negative part of God's plan. God will allow satan to set himself up in the temple  as God for his five month reign as the antichrist just prior to the true Christ's return.

2nd Thess 2:2-4 Satan comes back first. (events just prior to the Second Advent)  Satan sets himself up in the temple  as God

    2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
    3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come,(Christ shall not return) except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin (SATAN) be revealed, the son of perdition;
    4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the "temple" of God, shewing himself that he is God. (KJV)

Religious Jews who are still waiting for the First Advent of the Messiah, will flock to antichrist, as he shows himself off to be the True Messiah written of in the Torah. The first time the True Messiah (Jesus Christ) came to them, they not only rejected Him, they murdered Him, and now when the fake comes they will accept and worship him - sad, is it not?
