Where would someone find Safari clothing to purchase? Would tour companies that host Safaris offer or sell the type of clothing necessary for the journey?

I just got back from Safari in South Africa. There are no "safari" clothes. Just take light colored cotton pants and shirts. We took all khaki and white clothes. You will probably need a jacket in the evening as the temperature drops. We did get khaki colored light weight shoes from Lands End that were very comfortable. I also got my husband 2 pairs of khaki colored cargo pants from LL Bean with bug block and UV block that he lived in.

The important thing to remember is to pack lightly.  You can wash your things while you're there to keep your baggage light.

Swimming costume - if you want to swim in the pools
Tracksuit for evenings or for sleeping in
