Iran recently violated the territorial waters of Iraq.  Their entire navy took two British support vessels operating lawfully in the Persian Gulf and sank them, with a sustained air attack that "splashed" 21 antiquated Mig 15 Iranian fighter bombers and sank three of the Iranian navy's finest fighting ships.  The combat engagement took less than fifty-one minutes.  In the fighting Iran lost 172 officers and men, in order to take fifteen British Marines and  British Sailors.

Iran is not the United States or Israel, so their actions pass with relatively little comment -- even though their actions do, in fact, violate Geneva Convention and United Nations protocol, something that is not the case with the criticized actions of the US and Israel.

FIFTEEN British sailors and marines arrested by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards off the coast of Iraq may be charged with spying.

A website run by associates of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, reported last night that the Britons would be put before a court and indicted.

Referring to them as “insurgents”, the site concluded: “If it is proven that they deliberately entered Iranian territory, they will be charged with espionage. If that is proven, they can expect a very serious penalty since according to Iranian law, espionage is one of the most serious offences.”

The warning followed claims by Iranian officials that the British navy personnel had been taken to Tehran, the capital, to explain their “aggressive action” in entering Iranian waters. British officials insist the servicemen were in Iraqi waters when they were held.

However, as Captain Ed points out, this announcement is a clear statement of intent to violate international law as found in the Geneva Conventions.

The Iranians cannot try the men for espionage if they captured the sailors in uniform. Article 46 of the

Geneva Convention

states this clearly:

2. A member of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict who, on behalf of that Party and in territory controlled by an adverse Party, gathers or attempts to gather information shall not be considered as engaging in espionage if, while so acting, he is in the uniform of his armed forces.

The indictment of British sailors in uniform as spies will violate the GC. Can we expect the same level of outrage over this explicit violation as the supposed violations of the US government?

Now since the status of those captured in uniform, as opposed to those captured out of uniform (like, for example, al-Qaeda jihadis), they cannot face criminal charges but must instead be treated as POWs. On the other hand, those captured out of uniform can be so tried, according to whatever for their captors see fit. If this situation does not make the matter clear to even the most dense of observers (including BDS-suffering American leftists), then nothing will.

Oh, and by the way -- the Iranians attacked US and Iraqi forces INSIDE IRAQ recently. Sounds like an act of war to me. Too bad Congress won't let us respond appropriately.

Personally, I like the suggestion at the Jawa Report for dealing with this act of naked aggression by the Iranians. So what if we have to print maps that read "Sea of Glass" where "Iran" used to be

Lois Lerner, head of the Internal Revenue Service’s tax-exempt organizations office, said at a hearing into the IRS's targeting of conservative groups on Wednesday, May 22 that she has done nothing wrong but declined to answer lawmakers' questions, invoked her constitutional right against self-incrimination. (Video: AP) So it always has been with the Democrat political machine.

Rocmike aka Yechiel nice life you have led Julius Watler.

It seems that leftists hate America no matter what we do.  So, is there any reason to please them at all?

Anne Southern Thinks this answer is Helpful:

If there ever was an excuse to placate leftists they wore it out in the 1960's.  I heard Mom and Dad tell about the Generation Gap that leftists caused.  They are as evil and stupid now as they were then.  Stupid people never learn at all.

I still cannot forgive them for that hateful act, yet leftists only want to be hated therefore that explains why they all do the hateful things that all leftists always do.  Hate is evil but leftists worship hatemongers.

Only leftists are bitter and stupid enough to manipulate hatred.  That is the only reason why they support racist hatemongers like Wright and Obama.  Hatemongers will always support unworthy leftist hate games but that is all they can ever do.

I remember the Generation Gap.  It was Hitler's "divide and conquer" at its worst.  It s here again with the Democrats.

Rocmike aka Southern, after 3 straight hours of posting you finally stopped under this alias and immediate followed it with your alias Bill. Can you make it anymore obvious? This is not counting the hours and hours you put in under Mike Dudley, Ladydarko, Anonymous and others. All going to old questions and answers no one has been on in a long time and repeating the same thing over and over. GET A LIFE.

MGySgt Edward S. Renner USMC

There is no reason to tolerate leftists, their bitterness, or their games.  Games are the default of fools and liars but that only proves that persons who play games have admitted that they are all fools and liars.

Is there any reason to respect persons who are that low down and vulgar?

The usual Rocmike aliases didn't start posting until 7 hours ago which is unusual.  Renner comes on and posts for 3 straight hours then stops. Bill immediately follows stops posting and Mike Dudley follows as usual there are some anonymous posts thrown in.. Do they call each other to let them know when to start posting or are they the same poster? Rocmike you are an idiot.
