It worked out great ...
I have unlocked two phones to date. The first one was a T-Mobile phone that I bought on eBay. I went to the T-Mobile store and they were clueless so I called Tech Support for T-Mobile. Tech support had me take out the battery and read them a long number on the phone under the battery. They then told me that they had to email the information to me. I don't remember why they said they had to email the info, but it arrived in a couple of days with step by step instructions and worked fine.
The second phone I bought to use on T-Mobile, but it was an AT&T phone. I was actually able to get AT&T's Tech support phone number from the T-Mobile store personnel. I called AT&T Tech support and they again emailed me detailed instructions on how to unlock the phone. It was easy and free. I hope this helps.
