I have cell phones through Verizon and I also have a home phone through my cable company. If I got one of the smart phones would it be faster than the home phone or is it not worth it?

If you have young children home alone, then keep your cable/land-line phone for 911 purposes.  I just have the basic land-line phone; no special features.

we hav at&t and wen our contract is up we r going to virizon and getting rid of out home phone too:)

You can use your smart phone as an extension. Here, calls coming from your land line are routed to your mobile phone when your land line is not available. No more missed calls then. Call forwarding

Mobile phones and land phones are very different devices. Mobile phones are faster since they are powered by a microprocessor.
