Sue...Do yourself a HUGE favor, and email the tassimo company for that information...It's a costly machine, and you don't want to damage any part of it.  But I would like to suggest, that if you have such hard water where you live, use distilled water for your machine...you can find out how to distill your own so it won't cost so much, and it's really worth it.  Good Luck.
