Discuss Anonymous's answer to: I have taken metformin for ten years without side effects. Then I started having diarea. Can this happen after taking metformin for so long.

I don't know why you would assume that a medication you've taken for 10 years suddenly gave you diarrhea. It is far more likely that it was something you ate or a stomach bug of some kind.
