Should diabetics have dental check-ups more frequently than non-diabetics in the hopes of preventing gum disease or treating gum disease if someone already suffers from it?

Like most people I want to have a great smile and perfect teeth. But I don't feel unnecessary dental work is good for me. I've learned to ignore a slightly chipped back tooth. Could leaving this alone ...

Some children have this fear of the dentist. Regular brushing is fine, but sometimes professional dental treatments are needed..What are ways or strategies to eliminate this fear or reluctance?
