sword symbols The handle has an eagle standing on a plaque facing left. A banner of stars overhead and eight arrows behind the eagle(four in front, four in back) On the otherside of the hand guard is a sideways x with a four leaf clover on top of the x(one layed over the other) Are these any clues to what and where this came from?

I sounds like a standard issue Civil War Sword "dress sword".

I had (2) I recently sold on eBay with the same design.

Is the handle of a brass finish and on the sword itself is a "US"?

When selling swords online, do some research to find out where the sword was made, anything about the markings on it, the original scabbard desgin. Also look to see if the tassels are of the original design.
