Hi,

Stress is one of the most harmfull enemy.  In "Brain longevity" D"r Drahama Sing (great book !) claims it and brings excellent evidence to it.  Since I read that book ( + the book "Toxic work" by D"r Reinhardt) I decided to decrease the stress at my life..... simply by deciding that the vast majority of things that stress me are under my control and all I need is to decide that "It does not really matters" or to say "so what ?" (and laugh......)  an approach of "take it easy".....  Some food might help, Yoga, meditation, walking in a nice site, some wine. music, rest, fresh air..
I'll give you 2 examples:  You are driving and a driver next to you is driving in a way that normally would make you mad.....  keep calm, tell yourself: "This guy won't hurt my health" "so what ?" let him dissapear.... or your boss puts loads on work on your desk....  normally it would kill you....  better start laughing....  tell yourself: "It's only work, it will be OK, I did it 1000 before.....".
Tell yourself contantly: "The real important things in life are: Family / friends / happiness / love / appreciation......." and sure not all those nonsence (whatever it is).  Adopt a better approach to life.  Fill youself with love.  It worked for me, it will work for you as well !.
Best regards,
Love is the battery of life....

There are some simple breathing and relaxing exercises that could help. Sit in a comfortable chair, close your eyes or darken the room, take a deep breath, hold it and then slowly exhale.

Start at 100 and inhale, go to 1 and exhale, go to 99 and inhale then 2 and exhale.

Always keep in mind that stress is as dangerous to you as a serious disease and therefore always keep in mind the price you ae paying. As Oron wrote, there is nothing more valuable than your health and your family.

To relax your body, you first must start with your mind. You have to empty your mind before you can do relaxation of the body.Take slow, deep breaths  in private with no noise distractions .Or you can listen to a relaxation tape of the ocean or something.Another reason for the stress could be due to bills or family matters,a job.If you would like to learn more on how to relax your body and to bring your stress levels down, just follow my link and I'll help you .My name is John ...Have a blessed day and I hope I helped you .

In my humble opinion, in order to relax your body, the first thing you need to be addressing is how to relax your mind. What is causing you to stress.? Is there anything you could do to alleviate that stress.? Somehow minimise it maybe, and.......if not, there are loads of  good mind and body relaxation cds. If you would prefer to go a bit deeper......... stress is caused by a fear of something. Anxiety and stress go hand in hand. The more stressed you are, the more anxious you become....Then frustration mounts and you end up feeling very wound up. I am currently studying hypnotherapy and from what i have learned so far, to change how you feel about a situation you need to get past your consious day to day mind, and into your sub conscious. The part of you that lets you know from a learned response (previous experience), that you should be scared of that thing, that is causing you that stress and anxiey. Whereas your conscious mind is saying, for gods sake get on with it. I suppose the bottom line is.....find out what is causing you the stress and if you cant manage it by relaxation cds etc.....maybe try a couple of sessions with a hypnotherapist. It might be worth a go. Good luck. Hope you feel a bit more relaxed soon.

Hi

Oron (once again!) hit the nail on the head, what he is saying is that you must change your thought pattern, if you think of brain waves (thoughts) as pathways in the mind, the more you think that thought the easier it is to keep thinking it. so if you are put in a situation which annoys you you will automatically get stressed. so like oron has said next time you get put in a annoying situation then think postitive whatever way you look at it, and the easier more relaxed happy person you will be. this is put in much better words in a book called "the art of happiness" it is the wise words of the dalai lama that makes it. also one more thing i must mention, you will find that once you get in this "what the hell" type attitude life around you will get better! as people react to the way you project yourself, you project happy, relaxed, and so (most of the time!!!) people around you will be....

good luck and i truely advise reading the book

regret is full of missed opportunities.......

I agree with oron. So much stress for so little reason. Stress, left unchecked can make a person unwell. Life is to be enjoyed. We only have one life....if you cant enjoy it, then change how you do things and think about things, so that you can enjoy it. I have said the same on another stress question...... but i would recommend Hypnosis. It wont cure stress but it will help you change how you see it and react to it, which in turn, will make you more relaxed and happier in yourself. Hope this is of some help to you. Good luck x

A lot of good answers have been posted. I would like to add something that I've tried and is very effective in neutralizing stress. It's called EFT and the founder, Gary Craig is giving away the manual for free. Check it out at www.emofree.com
