What  should a vet do to treat a  dog that is skin and bones due to lack or food and water ?

The first thing the vet does is to hydrate the animal via IV. They'll also add nutrients to the IV unntil it looks like the animal can eat solid food. They can't provide solid food immediately, as it would make the animal ill.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

Have to very slowly build the animal back up, until it can eat on its own

Thanks for all the good help before I got her to the vets.
