I have a 91 toyota 4 runner i bought new. It recently wouldn't start when I left my girlfriends house, so I popped the clutch and started it. On the way down the hill, I turned it off, to see if it would start again, and it did. Everything was ok till the next day I was leaving work and it wouldn't start again. Again I popped the clutch, being on the downside of the parking lot. I stopped driving it because I had bought a 02 tundra. I took it to a local repair shop and told him about it, but every time he tried to diagnose it, it started for him. I talked to a toyota mechanic i knew back in michigan, (I had only been in Georgia for 2 years now), and he said it was the starter contacts. The mechanic I was using in Georgia said he thought it was the ignition, and he didn't think he could get the starter off without snapping off the bolts or something else.. (my truck has a lot of undercarriage rust). Finally get did manage to change the starter, and I put it up for sale, but just before someone came to drive it, I tried it and it still wouldn't start. It usually presents problems when it is damp out, but not necessarily. It isn't the battery, cause everything lights up, but the engine acts as if there is absolutely no power going to it at all; all it does is give me a click, when I turn the ignition, (not the click, click, click that comes from a dead battery).. any ideas anyone?
