SS benifits from my wife

Why when my wife passed away I did not get her SS benifits. I asked what happens to her money they told me it goes into their general funds. She would of collected on mine if I passed away first. Thanks Don at dugaro@aol.com

Don I would recheck this with SSA.  If your wife had the required 40 quarters and you were married to her for 20 years(I'm not sure about this number as it might have changed), you should be able to collect half of hers.  However, if you are collecting SSA, you would only get the larger amount of yours or half of hers.

Sometimes we put up walls not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.
