Rest assured, the Sun is absolutely never at peace.  This is a photograph taken in extreme UV by NASA this week.  Note that the Sun is only eight minutes away as light goes.  When it blows, we will evaporate to nucleated and shattered plasma before we could see it explode.  It will all be over before you could feel it.  Stars work that quickly.
