It takes a lot of big machines, huge wads of cheap electrical power, and a staff of eggheads, to make solar cells.  Once they start cranking them out they get cheaper and cheaper to make but before you can do that you'd have an operation bigger than a city block.

It is usually better to hire a company to install them for you.
