New people I met, too friendly want to visit, how do I get out gracefully

Have a plan in place, Let them know you have volunteer work or church work to do and a visit planned, then you won't try to come up with something.

This is a problem all of us face at one time or another.  Getting out of it gracefully is not easy and sometimes impossible.  We usually lie...or...I make some joke that let's them know that we just are not going to play that game...    My neighbor in Florida a few years back said, "We'll have you over for dinner soon," and I said, "Oh...please don't ...then I'll have to cook for you..."  all said with a smile and joking and they both laughed and all was well....I think sometimes we simply need to admit that we are tired of socializing and just want to stay home alone.  Most people relax when you do.  Good friends are made when you are not trying to MAKE them.

My experience taught me that the best way to get out gracefully in such situations (specially with people who don't really know you) is by saying: "I would love to meet you but my time table is so busy that I wonder if we can do it in the near future".  After you use it twice they won't nag any more. ... but if you want to remain friends with them better make sure you do meet from time to time.
