It was political
Asked why the prize had been awarded to Mr Obama less than a year after he took office, Nobel Committee head Thorbjoern Jagland said: "It was because we would like to support what he is trying to achieve".
Like so many people around the world many of us in Israel were in total shock when we heard the announcement that he won. Personally, I have nothing against him and I am glad that he has put the effort in resolving the Middle East conflict as one of his top priorities. However actions speak louder then words. For him to receive the Noble Peace Prize for bold initiatives and not actions is not the purpose of this prize. It reminds me of when Arafat won.
I believe that it was it was because he wished to negotiate instead of going to war as GW Bush and company did in Iraq. Now we are quagmired there indefinitly. It was his ideas that are so diametrically oposite GW. Michael Joel Held
Those old farts who live with Bush Derangement Syndrome, I feel sorry for.Reallity is so hard to come by.It's time to come down out of the hills.Bush has out of office for 9 months.I can seee where you might think like that since Little "o" hasn't done diddle squat, except get a dog and has his wife ho-ing in the garden.
I thought the prize was given to those who actually accomplished something. I have yet to see Obama do anything good. All I have seen from him is more debt and the weakening of our nation.
AP, Luke and Kibbutz,
Amen to all you've said. I think he did not deserve the Nobel Prize.
