Can my mom collect on her dead ex-husbands ss money?  They were married 18 years.  If so what forms do i need to help her fill out? Thanks, Her daughter

Patti,  Yes mom can collect on the ex hubby's ss, but only when she reaches retirement age.  Then all she has to do is call her local social security office and apply by phone.  So if mom is under 62 years old, she will still have to work for her money until retirement age.  Then she either collects on her own ss, or the ex hubbys, whichever is higher.
