Well sir good for you. I also worked 12 to 14 hrs a day and Holidays and weekends to raise my 3 children.

We sacrificed also and did without alot of things like cell phones, extra TV sets, new cars, but we had what we needed.

Too many Americans never grew-up understanding how hard their parents worked to give them things while not giving them enough of themselves.

I am happy for the things I learned from my mother and grandfather who were POWs for the duration of WWII. I know how lucky I am to be born in America.

Yes there are many retired people here on Yedda but then most of them bring alot of knowledge to this site and experience in life.

Yes there are nutcases but then who is to throw the first stone? We all have the right to free speech another thing to be proud and happy for.

I believe you about making sacrifices for the kids. That is called being a family man and a family woman. That makes a community. That makes America great, people who are not afraid to make a commitment to each other, settle down and make as good a life as they can.

That means you give the right example to your kids and then when the chips are down they do the right things and never ask for anything in return.

We had a snowfall here a week ago that put most of the county out of commission. Nobody had power, those who had backup generators loaned an extension cord to all the neighbors to power one light and keep the refrigerator going. We have loads of camping gear so we weathered the storm pretty well but one of the neighbors has a bad lung disease and had to stay with us until we cold get his power back on to run his oxygen concentrator.

I went out with my chainsaw and cut fallen branches while the boys hauled the chunks to the side of the road on main strength and awkwardness. The girls called around to all their friends to see who else needed help or had something they could share, information on how to deal with emergencies being the top of the list.

They put lists together and soon enough paired up the surplus with the needs. People were better about giving and sharing once they knew how bad it could be if there wasn't enough to go around.

One of the neighbors has a tractor. From the minute the snow started he was out there pulling cars out of ditches and pushing branches out of the road.

Sometimes you have to get hit with something nasty to get a community to pull together like a community should. I can see a bunch of city snivelers yelling gimme-gimme in times like that or lacking the social skill to pull together when something goes wrong.

That is a great difference from New Orleans. We have had many examples of the differences between people in times of catastrophe.

You would be surprised at the kindness shown by city folk in times of pain and suffering depending again where the city is located and what part of the city you are in.

I have seen goodness from many sorts of people and I have seen rotten no-good, lowdown, bums but I still hold faith that so far there is much more good than evil.

Now we see a nation filling-up with immigrants who have no desire to become American, mesh and only want to take advantage of us. That is a sad difference from my mother and grandfather who came over here from POW camps after WWII and all the other immigrants who helped build this country. Nobody worried about them terrorizing us, blowing-up buildings and nobody every feared them killing thousands of us.

Our country will continue to change drastically for the worst if we do not take the riegns and take more care in who we allow into our country.

Europe should serve as a good example the E.U. is now taking immigration very seriously.

wacko wasnt bush president for 8 years and 6 years with a republican congress and did nothing about illegal immigration. obama has more people on the boarder and has spent more money on the problem than any other president.

Lady Darko, we all have our difficuties withy psychotics and freeloaders like dfrogpong. I think of my parents, who grew up in the depression and when things got better they finally went to conservative universities to make something of themselves. BTW, conservative universities still hold that policy because it is humane and it always works brilliantly.

I owe my accomplishments to the Marine Corps, because they made it all possible. Such generosity of spirit is only possible with conservatives, as liberals are bigots and are utterly disloyal.

All good thigs come through conservatives. Liberals only deliver soulless evil as Pol Pot proved in the Killing Fields.

There is nothing else to prove.

fletcherba234 I was raised by a Marine and I also believe my success came from not only his influence but the Army.

Best thing I ever did. When I was hungry they fed me, ill they took care of me, weak they made me strong of body, mind and Spirit. I love the Military and those who serve and would gladly stand with them anytime anywhere.

fletch our future is unstable due to the softheaded libs and we have the best examples of that on Yedda with the insane morons who follow me everywhere along with so many others. So insecure and so hateful that they can not go on their way and argue their feeble points they only disturb, disrupt and cause havoc to all Yedda who truly are attempting to debate and to enjoy this site.
