I know that slugs like beer. Take a small saucer and press it into the ground near the effected plants. Pour a small amount of beer into the saucer and leave it over night. In the morning you will find 4 or 5 slugs that have killed themselves getting drunk on beer.  Every evening refill the dish with beer and eventually you will get rid of most of the slugs.
