Slow downs in AOL 9.7 Desktop

I have a client that is working with AOL desktop 9.7 (windows) and he is experiencing some significant slow down issues. When he opens an email, the hour glass can be running for 15-30 seconds. This occurs especially when he clicks to reply to a message. The window appears but it takes a while before he can start typing.

His machine is a fast machine running Windows 7 Pro x64 with 8GB of RAM and lots of HD. I just ran a defrag on the machine so that shouldn't be the problem.

Any ideas?

Set Up the System for Best Performance

  1. Right click My Computer.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click Advanced System Settings link at the left hand side of the window.
  4. Click Advanced tab.
  5. In Performance frame, click Settings button.
  6. Select the option Adjust for best performance and click OK | OK.
  • Block the start-ups and services
  • Defragment the disks
  • Defragment your registry
  • Disinfect the system
  • Improve Speed through Reginout
