Here a great article that I just found online about type 2 diabetes and the slim fast program. It should give you all the answers that you are looking for.

I would say no it is not good. The sugar in slim fast can run its course at a to rapid pace. I had other clients that were diabetic and had a negative experience with slim fast. If you are looking to lose weight as a diabetic you need to be careful when choosing a weight loss program. A calorie based program is best. Strip That Fat is a good program that teaches you everything about foods plus you get a database that will plan meals for you based on foods you enter. It is a great program for people with medical conditions. You can find out more about Strip That Fat if you are interested at http://www.weightlossconsultant.info also going to the site through this link you will get a discount of over 50%. Good luck.

I think when you are looking to diet you really need to consider the health implications of that diet and whether it is suitable for you.  There are different diets out there which are suitable and with a little research, this is a great article http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/diabetesnoninsulindependent.htm you can find something that will suit you.

You have already received some very good answers concerning your question. I would like to add the following web site from the American Diabetes Association that has to do with nutrition. I have Type 1 diabetes and I follow a diet based on food exchanges. If you can sit down with a dietitian that is knowledgeable about diabetes, the two of you can put together a meal plan that suits your lifestyle, I think you will find this to be extremely helpful.

I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

First off, talk to your doctor. He or she may say that you can IF you eat some fruit or meat with the shakes. Second, SlimFast is one of the worst for you, as well as Atkins. I have found that Herbalife is the best for anyone, even those with diabetes. It is expensive (but aren't all diet shakes?), but worth it. And they taste great as you can have them with milk and fruits. Plus they are quite filling.

Please make an appointment with your doctor to weigh the options available to you.
