The head in our salmon boat Leicester doesn't use "baskets."  It is a Scottish Inland Marine approved graywater disposal system.  "Black waste" comes back with us to shore to be pumped out and treated at Inverness Waste Treatment where we are registered. 

Long gone is the day when we could dump our head refuse anywhere but international waters, and then we have to comply with European and International Waste protocol.

Long ago they used wire strainers called baskets to deal with solids in the waste system but since 1969 all ocean going craft over 150 tons operating in Scottish coastal waters must comply with Scottish Inland Waste rules or be fined L750.00/illegal dump.

 

Life is for the bold. The sea makes its demand. Never tolerate a weakie. I have left back for the continent and then back to Scotland. I may check in when we dock in Inverness or I might not. It was good conversing with you but for one weakie who suffers an obsession with Obama.
